Sleepless Night
Naked on my green couch
I lay awake at four am
Bathed in the greenish hue
Of a banker’s lamp
From a dark green bottle
I’m taking sips of liquor
Whilst I finish reading
My last Bukowski
My woman lay sleeping
In our continental bed
She’s got to wake up early
Whereas I am out of work
The night is solitary
Its only sound is silence
In a city drowned in noise
It’s a good companion
